Featured Writing
Here are writing samples from different areas of journalism that reflect my ability to cover a wide range of stories, from investigative news to culture and lifestyle.

This piece was featured in Edify's September design issue. I was tasked with writing a feature story about the updates to the Myer Horowitz theatre. I wanted this story to feel like a bit of a jog through the place's history, while still being forward looking.

I wrote this piece for a university-aged demographic while working as the news editor for the Griff, MacEwan University's student publication. It's an engaging investigative feature which uncovers plagiarism and looks at the impacts it has on the community.

Currently nominated for Alberta Magazine Publishers Association's 2023-2024 Emerging Writer award.
Edify was in need of something to fill the stage section, and I had just met an enthusiastic new playwright and pitched this story as a follow-up piece. It looks at how playwrights from diverse backgrounds are breaking down barriers in Edmonton's theatre scene, while looking at one playwright's connection to Iran.

I had wanted to write a story about the housing situation at MacEwan for a while, but finally was able to commit to a pitch when I heard news of this "housing pilot." I did a lot of digging to get the concrete details for this story. It showcases a blend of narrative storytelling, and deep research to help tell an important story.

This story was brought to me when the Edmonton Community Foundation needed someone to cover a story about a relatively new program at the Edmonton Public Library. This was sponsored content created for the Legacy in Action publication, and was written to reflect both the successes and the remaining gaps that libraries face.
